As I understand it, this is one of the many aspects of the Brexit deal that weren’t sorted out at the time, and is now being dealt with.
The blue badge scheme is an EU scheme that was introduced in the 1970’s, so when Britain left the EU, they were no longer members of it.
Traffic law has to be agreed on a country by country basis in the EU, so the UK government are contacting all countries in order to get the UK’s new version of the blue badge approved. This is the latest on their website:
“Negotiations are taking place about the recognition and use of UK Blue Badges in some European countries.”
